Compassion is when love meets suffering and is moved to action. Compassion is a courageous practice that invites us to lean into our shared human suffering. Compassion tends to the heart with kindness and softens the edges leading us to recognize the strength and durability of our one heart.

Educators understand the connection to JOY in their work. It is a motivating and grounding experience at the heart of teaching. And, it is easy to lose sight of amid the day-to-day challenges of being an educator in a system that often overlooks humanity and leaves little room to bring joy to learning, teaching, and school communities. And yet, JOY remains a choice. By turning our practice and awareness toward joy, we can cultivate and sustain it, feed ourselves, and nourish our students.
